March has become known as reading month. What could be better than a whole month devoted to books? It also means it's time for the Roseville Public Library's annual bookmark contest. Our theme this year is Community's thrive @ your library. The winning bookmarks will be printed in color and distributed in the Library. Stop by the Youth Services Area for bookmarks from prior contests and an application for the contest or download one here.

Reading 101 Reading 101

Parents who would like to help their child develop or enhance their reading skills might like to encourage their children to use “read-alongs.” Our library offers read-alongs sets (CD and cassette) for younger children. The Dr. Seuss read-along sets feature rhyming, repetition and silly characters that help make them a favorite with the young ones. The Seuss read-along sets also include page-turn signals for the youngster that wants to read “independently.   For the elementary and secondary school readers the unabridged audiobooks and texts are separate. Here are some suggestions from  our children’s  librarian.
